Plattsmouth Nebraska is located to the south of Downtown Omaha where the Platte River and Missouri meet. Known historically for being along Lewis and Clark's trail which would have passed directly down the main street in Plattsmouth. Due to its early significance on the trail, Plattsmouth is also recognized as being one of the oldest cities in Nebraska having been founded in 1855.
Downtown Plattsmouth is made up of locally owned businesses and restaurants that make visiting the downtown area a tourist attraction for people from surrounding areas. In 2010 renovation of the main street in Plattsmouth began and has drastically beautified the area increasing both its allure for the locals and tourists.
